American Folk Art Studies for the 5th & 6th Grade Classes

DTD_Drawings_webThe 5th and 6th grades learned about American folk art.  American folk art refers to self-taught artists from the 18th and 19th centuries whose lives of simplicity influenced the subjects they chose for their paintings. The most well-known name in American folk art is Grandma Moses.

American folk artists’ paintings did not look like photographs. The people drew scenes that were important to them. Many Americans at that time appreciated simple and practical things.
