Competitive

At Desmond T. Doss, we strive to promote healthy competition and to embody the highest ideals of sportmanship and respect in order to be a living testimony of God’s character.  In addition, the lessons learned in the classroom, at home, and through church can be put into practice through athletics.

Because of the nature of competitive athletics, it is surrounded by positive pressure. Therefore, the athlete will be tested, and the true character made known.  As a result, the opportunity for character growth is accentuated through competition. As Christians, we are commanded by Scripture to always do our best, and we are not to waste the talent God has given us by giving anything less than total commitment.

Our Cross Country teammates compete against both private and public schools. Meets are typically on Thursdays. Desmond T. Our Soccer team competes against both private and public schools. Our typical season consists of 10 to 12 games, which are usually on Tuesday or Thursday. For this school year, every Friday will be a “dressier” or “uniform” day.  This means that it is uniform dress or better. There will be more details provided.

Please note that ALL TUESDAYS THROUGH THURSDAYS are uniform days, except when a special casual day is earned. Details about earning extra casual days will be provided.

Pizza Day
Aug 25 @ 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Once a month, we have pizza day luncheons available.  Sign-up sheets will be sent home the week of the Pizza Day luncheon for you to sign up your student if you choose to get them the pizza lunch.

Welcome Breakfast
Sep 1 @ 7:00 am – 8:15 am

This will be a special welcome breakfast. We invite all students and parents to attend this breakfast. Also, we love to have volunteers to help us prepare the breakfast. There is no cost for this breakfast. We ask that all school parents donate one breakfast item. Details about that will be sent home with your student that week.
