About Our Cutting-Edge 12th Grade Program

DTD_Connected_High_School Desmond T. Doss Christian Academy in cooperation with Richmond Academy has implemented a cutting-edge learning opportunity for our 12th grade students.

In order to offer the highest quality education from certified teachers and to offer the widest range of hands-on studies to prepare the leaders of tomorrow, our 12th Grade program is a connected school.  This means our 12th graders are now able to access the college-preparatory, Christ-centered, accredited program of Richmond Academy through a software-based program that connects the two schools in real time via the Internet.

High school students are provided their own Apple Macbook Air to use for the school year, on which most of the schoolwork will be completed. Students listen live as each teacher instructs his or her class, and the students are able to interact in real time with those teachers, as well as with other students from their respective locations, via live web cams and large monitors set up in all the classrooms.

The 12th Grade experience is much more than textbooks and technology, as there is also the social interaction that helps to build and mold our students into productive Christian adults for this life and eternity. The social interaction is truly what makes our program unique. Relationships with Desmond T. Doss Christian Academy’s teachers, staff, and students are maintained while building new relationships with the Richmond Academy community.

The social interaction and relationships are fostered during biweekly functions held at Richmond Academy, Desmond T. Doss, and other sites where students engage in hands-on labs, performing arts, mission opportunities, and other group activities.

This connected educational program, where faith and academics have been successfully integrated through a holistic approach of educating mind, body, and spirit, offers families the opportunity to have the highest-quality, Christ-centered education for their high school student and prepares our young adults for college, for leadership, and for life.
